My Impressions of the newly opened Salesforce Transit Center
On Sunday morning I went to San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art to see the Magritte Show. Afterwards, I walked several blocks over to 2nd and Mission to have a look and photograph the new Salesforce Transit Center and its 5.4 acre rooftop park. This regional transit hub is being called the "the Grand Central Station of the west." It took dacades of planning and eight years to build. Saturday was the grand opening of the park and transit center, and the party attracted such large numbers from all across the Bay Area that officials had to limit the number of people coming in, citing capacity issues. When I was there on Sunday afternoon, it was a pleasant warm sunny day, yet with surprisingly, no crowds. Late in the day on Sunday, I returned with David to take more photos. By then, the day was cold and had turned gray with fog. Remarkably, there was hardly anyone in the park at dusk. Here are some of my photos from Sunday's visit to the new Transit Center and elevated Salesforce Park.
